Only a few weeks remain until the 2009 edition of the London Literature Festival begins at the Southbank Centre in the English capital.

A diverse mix of poetry, music, writing and debate will take place at the two-week showcase, which will include appearances by Benjamin Zephaniah, China Mieville, Lemn Sissay, Peter Ackroyd and Billie Whitelaw to name but a few.

"Enjoy an outdoor production of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, an intimate storytelling of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, two rare stagings of Samuel Beckett's Not I and Shakespeare's sonnets set to music by Gavin Bryars and other musicians, including Antony Hegarty," the organisers comment.

Meanwhile, those keen to take a more active role can spend some time with bibliotherapy sessions from the School of Life and Southbank Centre Book Club.

The facility will also be running a creative writing summer school during the festival.

The festival runs between July 2nd and 16th, meaning people will have plenty of chances to book tickets and London hotels so that they can see their favourite creative figures in the flesh.

A number of special offers are on offer for those planning to see several events - with a 15 per cent reduction for people who book two events, 20 per cent off for those going to see three or four and a 30 per cent discount for bookings for five or more events.
