No Queues, No Fuss, UK Passport Application

(PRLEAP.COM) According to official figures obtained from the UK Identity and Passport Service (I&PS), by the on-line passport photo provider PasPic Ltd, www.PasPic.com, less than 297,000 (4.7%) of the 6.3 million passports issued in 2008 were applied for on line. This represents a fall in on-line applications from the previous year, when 5.1% of the 6.0 million applicants obtained their application forms on-line. Therefore each year an incredible 1 in 10 of the UK Population stand in line at the Post Office for forms, fill them in and then have their passport pictures taken in a photo booth etc. They then return to the Post Office to use the "Check and Send" service, at additional cost, and once back at home wait to see if their applications have been successful.

For Mothers with Babies, the Elderly and the Disabled, queuing at the Post office or using any service other than the more expensive Studio Photographer is an unreasonable expectation. The I&PS recognise the problems this causes, but can recommend no alternative course of action.
