(
PRLEAP.COM) Just last month
French restaurant Bistro des Amis was approached by Madam Mado, the owner of Galerie Mado Chalvet, the French Impressionist Gallery on Westheimer just West of Dunlavy. "Monsieur Bernard, I would like to exhibit some fine art at Bistro des Amis. I just love your place."
Sweet-talking usually works, and so, for the next three weeks Bistro des Amis will be showing three award-winning French artists who are living right here in Houston, Texas. This should be a lot of fun.
1. Elaine Monnig
Friday October 16, 2009, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Elaine Monnig has just been invited by the American Impressionist Society to present "Shrimp Boat". She says, "Many well known artists enter and attend this event, so I am very excited to be part of it." "Shrimp Boat" will be on display at Saks Gallery in Denver. And guess what? Elaine will be exhibiting her works this Friday at Bistro des Amis.
2. Dany Varel
Friday October 23rd, 2009, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Coming from an artist family, where the grandfather was a sculptorist, the aunt a miniaturist, and the sister a professional painter; Dany Varel was almost born to be an artist. During Dany’s childhood scribbling on school books was the passion. Today, Dany specializes in art deco and has developed a spin-off style called "Retro-Naif". Come see these one of a kind art works.
3. Isabelle Dupy
Friday October 30th, 2009, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Isabelle is fascinated by how photographers soften and blur out the backgrounds of their works, making the main subject matter stand out. Applying this concept to painting, Isabelle enhances the main focal point with texture and sharpness, while subtly softening the background. This technique Isabelle has developed creates a "Zooming Effect" called "le Fondu". "You’ll love the bold color used in the paintings."
On the 6th of November, this one of a kind
Houston bistro is throwing a little apéritif party for these talented women. In the meantime, the artists are hoping a lot of people stop by each week to get some couth and culture at The Bistro. "God knows I sure need some after being in the kitchen all these years. I think that’s why these angels were sent to me. Thanks girls. I sure hope your works light up the bistro" say Bernard, the Master Chef and owner of Bistro des Amis.
To make reservations for dining at Bistro des Amis during these events please call 713-349-8441. Of course walk-ins are always welcome. And the art exhibition is free.
