Central Katrina Support Group / Discussion Forum Website Launched Today

(PRLEAP.COM) SALT LAKE CITY, Ut.— Millions of people around the US and the world are sympathetic to the Hurricane Katrina victims, are seeking ways to help them, and long for waya to support and care for each other in these difficult times. A new centralized support group makes it easy to give support to those seeking it.

At http://www.KatrinaTalk.org, individuals from any location can log in and participate in group discussions about what’s going on in the news, share their personal stories, insights, and concerns, and provide support for each other.

Developed by Jacob Hanson, a software engineer, KatrinaTalk.org is a place for people to get together and talk about the serious issues we face in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, as individuals, as families, as communities, as states, and as a country.

Mr. Hanson said, "We’re all glued to the television, wondering what we can do and feeling helpless to aid those that are struggling so far away. I surveyed available resources and pledged my expertise and resources to offer a unique and central place for people to come together, post their thoughts, questions, and concerns, and help one another through the disaster."

At the site, there are several forums of discussion, from locale-specific topics to stories of hope and remembrance. In order to prevent spam, contributors are required to complete a simple registration forum, using a valid email address, before posting. User feedback is welcomed and the site is updated and improved upon frequently.

Those offering aid may also submit links or other contact information. Submissions are screened before being posted on the site. Several links are already available to a wide variety of major support sites and resources.
