LateRooms.com can announce that anyone heading to Spain and staying in Barcelona hotels in the new year may be looking forward to discovering what 2010 will have in store for them.

However, if they are still keen to hang on to the spirit of Christmas for a little while longer then one event could be just the thing they need to ensure that their festive celebrations are rounded off nicely.

The Procession of the Three Kings, or the Cabalgata los Reyes Magos as it is known locally, is an annual event that celebrates the arrival of the royal trio at the stable in Bethlehem where Jesus was born.

Taking place on January 5th, this popular Hispanic tradition sees crowds gather at the Moll de Fusta harbour steps.

Fireworks and a 21-gun salute get the event off to a noisy start as the three kings' boat arrives in the harbour and this is then followed by a procession.

Led by the mayor and metropolitan guard, crowds head towards the city centre and gather at the fountain of Montjuic to the sound of classical music to celebrate the journey made by the kings.

Barcelona is not the only Spanish city celebrating the arrival of the three wise men, as Madrid, Cadiz, Seville and Mahon in Menorca, among others, also host events.

If you're heading to the Procession of the Three Kings this year, we strongly advise that you book your hoteles Barcelona as soon as possible, given the huge popularity of the event.
