The International Music Festival Prague, which began on December 5th, will run into the new year, providing entertainment to anyone who is booked into Prague hotels at the start of 2010.

Featuring performances from a wide range of artists, there should be something for everyone to enjoy.

Venues across the Czech capital will be showcasing the musical talents of groups such as the Beethoven Orchestra Praha and the Saxophone Quartet Saxest.

All the shows take place in the evenings, usually after 19:00 local time and anyone who wants to attend is advised to contact individual venues for ticketing information.

The Rudolfinium and Obecni dum are among the locations where interested visitors can hear the melodious delights of the festival.

On January 4th, the event will culminate with a performance by the Vivaldi Orchestra Praga, featuring the vocal talents of Roman Janal.

If you are looking for some culture to occupy the day before the musical offerings each evening, you may be interested in an exhibition of contemporary Czech art.

Entitled After The Velvet, the installations chronicle the development of art in the country from 1989 to the present day, displayed according to the artist's generation rather than the date the works were produced.
