LateRooms.com can announce that art lovers staying at accommodation in Bilbao are likely to find plenty to interest them at the city's Guggenheim Museum and one new exhibition may take their fancy.

Arriving at the gallery on February 12th, Robert Rauschenberg: Gluts at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao celebrates the work of the American artist.

According to the centre, he had an "uncanny ability to find new and often improved uses for what others tossed aside" and it is this that formed the basis of his Gluts group of works.

These are a series of assemblages he created between 1986 and 1989 and then again in 1991 and 1995 from objects on his studio floor.

This retrospective of his work is described as a "homecoming of sorts", as an exhibition of Rauschenberg's pieces was first shown in Bilbao between 1998 and 1999.

Organisers add: "This presentation underscores the spirit of the artist's excitement about Frank Gehry's architectural masterpiece and its transformative presence in Bilbao."

It has previously been shown at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and the Museum Tinguely, Basel. It will be on display in Bilbao until September 12th 2010.

Rauschenberg died in 2008 after becoming popular in the 1950s, when the pop art culture was emerging.

To make the most of Robert Rauschenberg: Gluts at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, you should consider booking your hotels en Bilbao to avoid disappointment.
