Entitled Roman Polanski - Director and Actor, the showcase is comprised of previously unseen photos, documents, scripts, costumes and film outtakes that document Polanski's work.

The exhibition is on loan at the German establishment from the Museum of Cinematography in Lodz, Poland.

In addition to the main installations, the museum will also be running a programme of screenings for a number of Polanski's best known films.

These include the Pianist, Dance of the Vampires and Tess - an adaptation of the Hardy novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles.

Located on Schulstrasse by the River Rhein, the museum is open from 11:00 (local time) until 17:00 from Tuesday to Sunday and it opens late on Wednesday until 21:00.

Entry costs €3 (£2.62) and is free to any students under the age of 18.
