MEN spend over 50% more on their darlings on Valentine's Day than they do on their mum's on Mother's Day. This astonishing result has been revealed by a recent survey. The research was done by a leading UK-based online retailer Serenata Flowers. The research confirms the ancient saying so as to: "A lad is a son until he meets a girl that becomes his wife, except for a daughter who is a daughter for the rest of her life."

The UK florist business unveiled the statistics subsequent to analyzing sales facts from Valentine's Day and Mother's Day during earlier years.

Managing Director Peter Ahl said:

"We examined our purchase data and were somewhat astonished how much extra money men are prepared to use on their girlfriend, life partner or partner in comparison with their mother."

"Before we made the actual comparison we had the opinion it was more but not over 10 - 20 %. To our great surprise we came to the conclusion it is more than 50 %."

"Obviously there are less mummy's boys out there than there used to be. But at the same time it does show that most men are willing to push the boat out at Valentine's Day. By offering a Valentine's Day rose might become the time a men takes his first action toward a new relation and as such likewise starts his separation from his mother."
