LateRooms.com can announce that film-lovers booking hotels in Rome and taking a relaxing break in the city may have plenty of opportunities to catch a few movies if their trip coincides with one event.

The Rome Independent Film Festival (RIFF) takes place from March 11th until the 18th and theatres and cinemas across the region will be showcasing more than 80 international productions.

It is young filmmakers who particularly benefit from the occasion, as this is often the first time they have been able to present their works to the general public.

To help them do this, organisers state that there will be "special events designed to stimulate enthusiasm and create discussion: retrospectives, seminars and workshops on various aspects of cinema, as well as exhibitions, collaborations with theatre, dance, fashion and music concerts".

Furthermore, there will also be a series of awards handed out to participants across a range of categories, with money to be won.

Last year, the RIFF Awards winning film was Hunger by Brit Steve McQueen, with Section 44 by Daniel Wilson picking up the accolade for best foreign short film.

If you're heading to the Rome Independent Film Festival this year, we strongly advise that you book your hotel Roma as soon as possible, given the huge popularity of the event.

A new movie staring Kristen Bell is currently being shot in Rome and the actress recently revealed how she sustained a burn on her leg while riding a motorcycle around the city's streets.
