AsiaRooms.com can announce that food lovers staying in Melbourne hotels should find plenty to enjoy when the city's Food and Wine Festival gets underway in March.

Featuring over 250 events spread over 12 days, the festival brings some of the world's finest chefs, wine makers and food experts to the state of Victoria for a gastronomic extravaganza.

Highlights of this year's festival are expected to include al fresco wine tasting with Cellar Door, Melbourne's riverside wine marketplace.

Over 60 of the best wineries in Victoria will be represented at this event, which takes place on March 20th and 21st at Southgate Promenade.

With tickets priced at AU$35 (£19), visitors will also be able to try cheeses from the adjoining farmers' market and enjoy the Melbourne skyline as they relax with a drink.

The festival will also include a celebration of Foodie Films, with outdoor screenings of tastily-themed movies taking place from March 15th in Federation Square.

Selected films include Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, My Dinner with Andre and Babette's Feast.

The screenings will be accompanied by cooking demonstrations from top chefs such as Tobie Pattock, who is known for working alongside Jamie Oliver on the Fifteen project.
