LateRooms.com can announce that although many people staying in hotels in the Cotswolds will be seeking a relaxed and quiet break, anyone who is feeling energetic may want to head to Bath for a day for the city's half marathon.

Runners will take to the streets on March 7th for the annual event to raise money for a host of charities, starting on Great Pulteney Street in the city centre.

In addition to the main race there is also a fun run for anyone who does not feel up to the 13.1 mile course.

If you forget your running shoes then you may want to join the spectators lining the route to offer some encouragement to the runners.

The traffic-free course is described as "fast and flat", making it suitable for all abilities. It takes in the picturesque surroundings of the city and straddles both sides of the River Avon.

Last year, the event raised more than £1.2 million for charity and attracted more than 10,000 spectators.

Official charities partnering the half marathon in 2010 include the RNLI, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Macmillan Cancer Support.

According to the race website, some of the best spots from which to watch some of the action include Churchill Bridge, Queen Square and Green Park.
