LateRooms.com reports anyone who has booked hotels in Zaragoza in March and April will no doubt stumble across some of the many Easter celebrations taking place in the city.

Festivities kick off on Palm Sunday, which falls on March 28th this year, with a procession through the city.

This traditional event involves local children moving along the streets carrying palm fronds, while adults follow with olive branches.

Olive branches are then placed outside people's homes, on their balconies and behind doors to ward off evil spirits and protect households from storms and other catastrophes.

Some of them even make their way into local fields to act as a talisman for farmers' crops.

A host of other events follow this opening procession to mark the death and resurrection of Christ.

Tourists may want to ensure they have time in their schedules to witness the culmination of the celebrations - the Santo Entierro parade on Good Friday.

Renowned across Spain for its drums, this ancient religious tradition attracts thousands of visitors to the city each year.

"LateRooms anticipates heavy demand for hoteles en Zaragoza due to the Easter week celebrations and recommends that people attending book their accommodation early," says LateRooms head of marketing Jess Reading.
