LateRooms.com highlights anyone who is staying in accommodation in Florence in March could find that they are sharing the hotel with a number of Irish travellers.

This is because the Irlanda in Festa is taking place in the city, with locals and tourists prepared to wear their best green outfits to support the travelling bands.

Running for almost a week from March 17th until 21st, What's On When described the event as "a celebration of all things Irish".

As well as the musical performances, which include shows from the Whiskey Trail and Antonio O'Breskey, there will be delicacies and beverages from Ireland to sample.

The Saschall Theatre in Florence is playing host to the festivities and the venue will be selling traditional Irish beers alongside colcannon, a dish made primarily from mashed potatoes and kale or cabbage.

Tickets for the event have yet to go on sale, however, they will be available from the venue and its online site.

Located on the banks of the Arno River, the theatre started life as a circus tent in the 1970s before being converted to a space for actors and musicians and developing into its existing structure in 2002.

If you're heading to the Irlanda in Festa this year, we strongly advise that you book your hotel Firenze as soon as possible, given the huge popularity of the event.
