Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. announced today that it has appointed Bruce Gray as its Chief Executive Officer. Gray has been President, Chief Operating Officer and acting CEO of the company since June 2004.

“Bruce has done a phenomenal job for Silterra since joining the company. His initiatives have significantly improved the company’s competitiveness in the wafer foundry industry,” said Adin Jarjis, who took on the role of Chairman of the Board of Silterra in July 2004. “Operationally, he has expanded the company’s manufacturing capacity considerably while improving operating efficiency and shortening production cycle time substantially. Bruce successfully spearheaded the company’s first all copper, 0.13-micron CMOS process technology program through the joint development project with IMEC. With his leadership, Silterra is set to continue to improve return-on-investment for its shareholders.”

Gray joined Silterra as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in June 2003 and was promoted to President, COO and acting CEO in June 2004. Among his numerous accomplishments, Gray brought Silterra’s industry-leading high voltage process technology family, which accounts for a sizable portion of the company’s sales revenue, into volume production.

Enthusiastic about his CEO appointment, Gray stated: “I am excited for the opportunity to help advance Silterra as a world-class wafer foundry serving a global customer base. My goal is to make Silterra one of the cornerstones of the burgeoning, knowledge-intensive semiconductor industry in Malaysia.”

Gray has over thirty years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He was the CEO and co-founder of a high technology consulting firm in Silicon Valley before joining Silterra. Previously, he was the President and COO of Xicor, Inc. Gray started his career at National Semiconductor Corporation. During his twenty-five year tenure at National, Gray held various engineering and management positions, including Managing Director of the Advanced Technology Group. He was also the first Vice President of Manufacturing Operations at SEMATECH, a semiconductor industry process technology development consortium.

Gray received his Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and had extensive management training from California Institute of Technology and MIT. He holds three patents in semiconductor technologies.
