AsiaRooms.com can announce that people staying in Hanoi hotels still have an opportunity to experience one of Vietnam's most famous religious festivals.

Each year, the Perfume Pagoda Festival brings thousands of Buddhist pilgrims from across the country to Chua Huong, a spectacular complex of temples and shrines located in the Huong Tich mountains.

The festival season begins in early January and runs until the end of March, meaning that travellers still have a chance to see this sacred site during its most important event.

Located about 40 miles south of Hanoi, Chua Huong is the name given to the many pagodas and temples that are spread across the caves and forests of the holy Huong mountain.

One of the most popular sites among pilgrims is Huong Tich Cave, which forms the centre of the complex and leads to Chua Trong, the inner temple.

Inside the limestone cave are many statues and wall carvings, including a large Buddha figure and other religious images.

Various routes can be taken to Chua Hong from Hanoi and other parts of Vietnam, but many pilgrims opt to make the journey by boat.

Travelling along the Yen River in this manner gives people an opportunity to appreciate the country's stunning landscape before they reach the temple.
