LateRooms.com highlights golf lovers spending time in Turin this spring should be aware that the BMW Italian Open is taking place there, with many top players set to take part.

The contest is a European Tour event, so many of the finest golfers in the world will be present to compete for the honour taking the title.

Running from May 6th to 9th, people in Turin hotels will need to travel to the Royal Park Golf and Country Club to enjoy the tournament, which has a prize pot of €1.3 million (£1.15 million) for participants.

It is the second year in a row that the venue is hosting the competition, with defending champion Daniel Vancsik winning in style in 2009 by a margin of six strokes.

An official European Tour statement read: "It is certainly a feast or a famine on Tour for Vancsik. His victory in Madeira came on his 50th start, with the previous 49 not containing a single top ten, while his win in Italy came over a year after he recorded his previous top-ten finish."

Cost will not be an issue for this major golfing spectacle, since ground admission is completely free and should allow attendees the chance to stroll around the beautiful course and cheer on their favourite players in the temperate Italian spring weather.

If you're heading to the BMW Italian Open this year, we strongly advise that you book your hotel Torino as soon as possible, given the huge popularity of the event.
