LateRooms.com highlights anyone who is intending to stay in hotels in Brisbane during May will find themselves surrounded by classical music as part of a month-long festival in the city.

Run each year by the 4MBS radio station, the Festival of Classics promises a host of events and concerts for classical music lovers to enjoy.

On May 1st, the opening performance will take place at St John's Cathedral, featuring the venue's choir.

Composers including Chopin, Schumann and Mahler are among those whose works will be played during the festival.

As well as classical music, there will also be a selection of jazz shows.

Ticket prices for the concerts vary, starting from AU$16.50 and ranging up to AU$80, dependent on the event and venue.

Some of the performances take place in the afternoon as well as the evening, which means that visitors have a wide range of choice when it comes to show times and dates.

The final day of the festival is May 30th, when audiences will be treated to some music from Bach at St Mary's Church at Kangaroo Point.

Among those showcasing their musical talents will be the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and various solo performers, such as Christopher Wrench, Greg Massingham and Michelle Walsh.
