LateRooms.com highlights runners from all over the world will be heading to Melbourne next month ahead of the Great Ocean Road marathon which is scheduled to take place on May 15th and 16th.

People who enjoy watching unusual sporting events may want to book accommodation in Melbourne so that they can see one of the races taking place over the weekend.

With distances ranging from 6.5 km to the full marathon course at 45 km, there is a competition to suit every ability during the two-day event.

On May 15th, the two shorter races will take place, starting from and returning to Apollo Bay.

Meanwhile, May 16th will see entrants in the half marathon and marathon lining up at the start point.

Both races will end at Apollo Bay, however, the half marathon will start from Kennett River on the Great Ocean Road, while the marathon will begin at Lorne, further up the famous stretch of coastline.

Spectators can pick their spot along the route to watch the runners as they head past and will be rewarded with stunning ocean views when the road is quiet.

This is the sixth year that the race has taken place and anyone who feels energetic enough to take part in any of the races can submit an entry until May 3rd.
