LateRooms.com - Learn about Toussaint Dubreuil in Paris

April 29, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
LateRooms.com can reveal that the Louvre in Paris is devoting an entire exhibit to the artist Toussaint Dubreuil for the first time ever this spring, which may prove to be enticing for many art enthusiasts.

What may come as a surprise to some tourists staying at hotels in Paris is that Dubreuil did not fit the classic image of a reclusive and tortured artist and instead was a skilled sportsman and musician.

Running until June 21st, travellers can see 50 of his drawings in this exhibit, which show how he mastered many of the artistic innovations from home and abroad, such as Italian Mannerism, according to the venue.

The art institution noted that he was the first painter of Henry IV and doyen of the Second School of Fontainbleau, with many of his contemporaries impressed by his determination.

"His work must be seen in the context of a social life rooted in physical prowess and of a musical virtuosity which, wedded to song, sparks true poetry," it explained.

In order to find the exhibition within the iconic French art venue, individuals should make their way to the 1st floor of the Denon Wing in the Salle Mollien.

Entrance to the show is included within the ticket price of €9 (£7.80), with doors opening from 09:00 to 18:00 (local time) daily, except Wednesdays and Fridays, when it closes at 22:00.

While people are visiting the Louvre, they could consider checking out the Holy Russia exhibition as well, which celebrates art from the nation from the 9th to the 18th century.

LateRooms anticipates heavy demand for hotel Paris due to the Toussaint Dubreuil exhibit and recommends that people attending book their accommodation early," says LateRooms head of marketing Jess Reading.
