Nebraska Businesswomen Assist International Women's Celebration

(Lincoln, Nebraska) Glenda Hinz of HINZtime Virtual Assistance (formerly HINZ Business Services) (www.hinztime.com) and Paula Fehringer of blueship.com (www.blueship.com) assisted with the debut of the International OlderWiserWomen's (OWW) Day, a month-long celebration that took place worldwide from August 17, 2005, to September 18, 2005. During the event, women around the globe came together to share, learn, and celebrate successful aging. In addition to community gatherings, many online virtual gatherings took place. A fundraiser was conducted to raise funds to send one woman on a Mid-Life Adventure to Mt. Hood, Oregon. When Hurricane Katrina hit, co-sponsors of the event decided to redirect all profits to relief efforts assisting women in the South and their families and businesses, instead of funding the adventure trip.

Over the course of the event, Hinz provided virtual administrative support to OWW founder, Barbara C. Phillips, NP, who is based in Aberdeen, Washington (www.olderwiserwomen.com). Phillips said, "When I started working with Glenda, I had no idea how to really work with a VA [Virtual Assistant]…I only knew I needed some help. I was not even clear on the amount of help I needed or the amount of stress I was experiencing trying to do it all myself. I now know, working alone, I would have only accomplished a small fraction of what we as a team have accomplished for this event. Like most entrepreneurs, we tend to want to do everything ourselves. Well, it does not work that way. Glenda keeps me on my toes, edits my errors, has wonderful ideas, knows things I don’t, and has generally made my life much easier. I cannot begin to thank her enough, or recommend her services highly enough."

Fehringer assisted OWW Day co-sponsor Kathy Browning of Healthy Divas (www.HealthyDivas.com) in creating a Mid-Life Adventure movie. Browning, based in Boulder, Colorado, said, "I was in a pinch. After creating a PowerPoint presentation to announce our Mid-Life Adventure Giveaway, I realized the file could not be viewed by Mac users. I had received links to various flash movies and thought this could be the solution; however, I had no idea how to convert PowerPoint to Flash. Paula Fehringer of blueship.com came to my rescue! Not only did she convert the presentation, she enhanced it and made it flow better. Paula is very professional, but fun to work with. She put me at ease, listened to my ideas and brought them to life. Working with Paula was a dream come true. Not only did she quickly grasp what I had in my head, the way she presented my ideas in the program was right on."
