LateRooms.com - Sydney football supporters to enjoy World Cup Fan Fest

LateRooms.com can reveal that football fans staying in Sydney hotels next month will be able to enjoy all the World Cup action at the city's official International FIFA Fan Fest area.

Set to launch on June 11th when the opening World Cup match gets underway in South Africa, the special fan zone will feature three giant screens located on floating stages at Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour.

A fourth screen will be erected nearby in Tumbalong Park, giving thousands of supporters public access to live matches throughout the tournament, which runs until July 11th.

As well as the football action, the Fan Fest organisers have promised to deliver a "dynamic entertainment programme", including regular family activities, competitions and street soccer sessions.

Entry to the fan zone will be free, although some supporters may have to stay up round the clock to catch their favourite teams.

Due to the time difference between South Africa and Australia, the matches will be broadcast at 21:30, 00:00 and 04:30 local time in Sydney.

Local fans will be particularly looking forward to Monday June 14th, when Australia are set to take on Germany in their first match of the tournament.

Sydney is one of only six official FIFA Fan Fest sites in the world this summer, with similar events also taking place in Paris, Rome, Berlin, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro.
