AsiaRooms.com can reveal that people who like spending a night out at the theatre could enjoy a performance of Don Quixote in Shanghai.

The famous opera, which is based on a 16th century book by Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes, will take to the stage at the Shanghai Grand Theatre - Lyric Theatre.

Anyone staying in hotels in Shanghai who enjoys dramatic operatic shows may want to book tickets for the event, which will run for four days from July 1st.

Seats start from 80 Chinese yuan (£7.97) but can cost up to 580 Chinese yuan.

The story of the production follows the imaginary world of its protagonist, Don Quixote, who believes he is a knight that must undertake chivalrous deeds to prove his love for an imaginary lady.

His actions are mocked by his peers with ultimately tragic consequences when Don Quixote regains his sanity and realises what he has done.

People with a love of performing arts may want to visit the Shanghai Grand Theatre, even if they do not get hold of tickets for the opera.

The impressive building, located to the north of the People's Square in the city centre, boasts an interesting design and is home to three stages, each intended for a different type of performance.

Ballets, operas and symphonies are staged in the main arena, while the medium theatre is reserved for chamber orchestras and the small stage is used for dramas.
