Surf’s Unique Ability to Process Video, Voice and Data Simultaneously on a Single DSP Wins it a Place on the “Pulver 100”

Triple-Play Simultaneous Media Processing allows Telecom Developers to Design more Efficient Cost-effective Products

Surf has been named to the Pulver 100 due to its leading-edge Triple-Play media processing technologies, which enable voice, video and data (fax/modem) processing simultaneously, on a single DSP.

The 2005 “Pulver 100” is the VoIP industry’s premier listing of privately held growth companies that represent the future of the communications ecosystem. Surf provides a completely integrated solution that runs all media types (voice, video, fax & modem) simultaneously on the same DSP (Texas Instruments’ TMS320C64x™ generation). The same DSP also supports UDP, RTP, H.223 (for 3G-324M), and conferencing algorithms. In addition, Surf provides an open DSP framework that allows telecom infrastructure manufacturers to integrate their own user-defined channel and incorporate ANSI-C algorithms in the DSP.

Surf’s approach is unique, since all other solutions separate voice and video and run them on different DSPs, or divide the processing between the host and the DSP. Running them together makes the solution more effective (cost, quality and performance-wise) since it enables dynamic (during run-time), modification of the channel to support voice now, and voice and video later.
Surf’s products are optimized for gateway applications and CTI/ messaging/ streaming/ recording/ conferencing applications. Voice and video streaming capabilities as well as voice and video mixing capabilities (including dominant speaker detection) are also supported. These solutions are provided on variety of platforms: boards for PCI and PTMC/AMC DSP farms as well as chip-level. In addition, Surf has cooperation agreements with cPCI and ATCA manufacturers to provide an integrated solution of Surf’s PTMC/AMC daughter card riding on cPCI and ATCA carriers.

“It is truly an honor to be named to the pulver 100, especially for a third straight year,” states Eyal Zagagi, CEO of Surf Communication Solutions. “We consider it a clear indication that Surf is continuing to develop and deliver the leading edge voice and video enabling technology that the telecom industry demands.”
