LateRooms.com - Work up a sweat in Sydney's City2Surf race

LateRooms.com can reveal that the largest running event in the world - the Sun-Herald City2Surf - is returning to the streets of Sydney towards the start of next month.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the race will take place on August 8th 2010 and is expected to attract more than 75,000 people to tackle the 14km course.

Starting from the intersection of Park and College streets in the city centre, the City2Surf track takes participants along the coast at Rose Bay before arriving at the gruelling Heartbreak Hill, which is generally considered to be its toughest section.

Having beaten the challenging slope, runners should hopefully find the rest of their run around Sydney a little more enjoyable as they head towards the finishing line at the world famous Bondi Beach.

As well as the sense of personal achievement which comes from completing the course, entrants will also be happy in the knowledge that their efforts have helped to raise money for a charity of their choice.

To get fundraisers working that little bit harder, the Sun-Herald has said it will donate A$10,000 (£5,500) to the charity backed by the individual who raises the most money.

Organisers have warned that entries are filling up fast, which is likely to have a knock-on effect on demand for Sydney hotels.

LateRooms.com offers a wide range of Sydney hotels, including the Metro Hotel on Pitt and Menzies Hotel Sydney.
