LateRooms.com - Test your endurance in Perth's City to Surf race

August 06, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
Those who fancy a challenge during their stay at some of the fine accommodation Perth has to offer may get the chance to put their endurance to the test in the annual City to Surf race.

Taking place on August 29th 2010, the event boasts the return of the Chevron Marathon following last year's inaugural showing.

Organisers have described the 2009 marathon as a "huge success" after it attracted the largest ever field seen for a 42.2km race in Western Australia and they will no doubt be hoping that this year's occasion proves to be just as popular.

While those taking part in the contest are unlikely to fully appreciate the surrounding scenery, the course takes entrants through many of the tourist hotspots that are traditionally visited by people staying at some of the cheap accommodation Perth has available.

After getting underway in the city centre and running adjacent to the Swan River for the first half of the circuit, racers then enter the beautiful Kings Park, which is the city's biggest attraction thanks to its huge expanses of bush and parkland.

The marathon starts at 06:30 local time. Anyone keen to take part in the marathon should register online, or in person at the event expo from August 26th-28th.
