LateRooms.com can reveal that Dusseldorf is set to further enhance its reputation as one of the world's top locations for contemporary art with the forthcoming Quadriennale.

Beginning on Friday September 10th and running until January next year, this special season of exhibitions will involve ten of the German city's top museums and gallery venues.

Fans of modern photography or the late German performance artist Joseph Beuys are advised to make their Dusseldorf hotel bookings for the event, as both will be represented with special exhibitions.

Thanks to the influence of institutions such as the famous Kunstakademie and a profound appreciation of art among the local population, Dusseldorf has provided a home for some of the art and design world's most famous figures.

The capital of North-Rhine Westphalia is now aiming to celebrate that heritage and look towards the future with its second Quadriennale.

According to the organisers, Dusseldorf mayor Dirk Elbers has said the exhibition season will help to cement the city's reputation as "an international cultural metropolis".

A diverse series of group shows and solo exhibitions has been planned, with venues including the K20 Art Collection, the Inter Media Art Institute and the Palace and Park Foundation Benrath.

Entitled Parallel Processes, the Joseph Beuys exhibition is due to run at K20 from September 11th. It will aim to evaluate his entire career by presenting a chronological sequence of ten selected works.

Meanwhile, British art fans may be intrigued by the Nam June Paik retrospective, as this exhibition has been organised in collaboration with Tate Liverpool.

Exploring the work of the Korean-born video art pioneer, the show will run between September 11th and November 21st at the Musuem Kunst Palast.

People visiting the Quadriennale can purchase a two-day ticket, which gives the holder access to all participating exhibition houses over two consecutive days, for €20 (£16.60).
