Sea glass pendants designed and hand-made by Winthrop, Massachusetts Stained Glass Artist Michelle Champitto were given as gifts by Massachusetts' First Lady Ms. Diane Patrick to all of the states' first ladies when they visit Boston for this year's Governor's Conference in July. Michelle started her business, Fresh Cut Glass, in 2005 and focuses primarily on stained glass windows and panels, sun catchers, blown glass infusion jars in addition to various glass pendants and other personal art.

Every year the Governor's Conference is held in a different state and it has become a tradition for the hosting governor's spouse to present gifts to visiting governor's spouses. This year is Massachusetts turn and as a supporter of local artists, Ms. Patrick's office turned to a Massachusetts' artist.

Michelle's sea glass pendants are uniquely elegant and appropriate for both casual and formal attire.
"I was very aware that each piece I made represented Massachusetts, and reflects on Ms. Patrick as the gift giver", says Michelle. "This is a very accomplished and distinct group of women, and I am truly honored to have an opportunity to create personal art for them."

Michelle is a stained glass artist with a clean, contemporary style. She incorporates many different types of glass elements into her stained glass art, including sea glass. The natural beauty of the sea glass inspired these pendants which, Michelle says, "is a constant reminder of the beauty of nature around us. I didn't start out with the intention of becoming a jeweler and in fact the majority of my pieces are window panels and sun catchers. But sea glass is one of those things that is so beautiful it just needs to be worn. " says the artist.

Michelle' work can be found in a handful of boutiques and gift shops in the north east. She also exhibits in numerous art shows and festivals throughout the year. For more information about Michelle Champitto and Fresh Cut Glass, visit www.freshcutglass.com or call (617) 504-8391.
