Toronto authors k.g. Sambrano, Nik Beat and Simon Leigh will band together to support adult literacy. On Oct 14th, these widely published authors will participate in a one night literary event called “A Night of Dream” — The Abbotsford Station Book Launch and Benefit Reading for Adult Literacy.

Says artistic director and best-selling author k.g. Sambrano, “I was shocked when I heard the statistics, up to 22% of Canadian adults have problems with printed material. Just outrageous.”

The late publisher, Alnoor Govani knew of these statistics. That’s why in 1998, when he began his publishing company, Invago Publishing, the first order of business was to raise awareness of this situation. This is the reason Sambrano and Invago Publishing, in keeping with Mr. Govani’s wish, will be donating all the proceeds from the evening to adult literacy.

Says Sambrano, “Al Govani was a gentleman, a real hero and we miss him. We really do. It’s been a long difficult road getting Abbotsford Station completed after his death, but we’re at the end of the journey and a new one is about to begin.

The night will be one of dream, the promise of better things to come for adults who are challenged by printed material. We are putting the word out about the evening and already there’s been a huge outpouring of generosity and support for this project. ”

All proceeds from the evening will be donated to adult literacy in the memory of publisher, Alnoor Govani.
