This year’s Post-Expo 2005 congress and exhibition, being held in Paris from 3rd to 5th October and recognised as the world's leading event for the postal, parcel and logistics industry, sees a new exhibitor in Tata Interactive Systems (TIS), the global e-learning pioneer.

At Post-Expo 2005, TIS has on display its range of leading edge approaches to e-learning including:
• Simulations based on TIS’s award winning simulation based learning objects (SimBLs™) and story based learning objects (StoBLs™)
• Assessment products
• Tutor and mentor resources
• Specific e-learning materials for learners – drawn from programmes developed for companies in the logistics sector as well as those from other industries.

“Efficient and effective logistics can make all the difference between success and failure in business,” commented Alan Samuel, head of European operations at TIS. “And the difference between success and failure lies in competence and quality of the logistics operation’s staff.

“That is where a company such as TIS can help.

“With over 15 years experience and expertise in helping companies in the field of logistics – including Royal Mail, Exel and UPS – as well as is the field of passenger logistics, including British Airways and Qantas, TIS is providing practical solutions to help improve employee productivity and profitability,” he added. “This is helping TIS clients to expand their markets through developing increasingly competent staff.”

TIS’s range of e-learning offerings for the transport and logistics sector includes programmes on:

 Functional or general activities, including personal development courses such as leadership training
 IT application training programmes on CRM systems such as Siebel and custom applications
 Regulatory training on cargo logistics, fire safety and handling dangerous goods
 Soft skills training to improve managerial performance
 Web-based courses on supply chain management
 Recruitment and induction programmes

These have been developed for staff from all areas of the business including: customer-facing staff, administration, marketing, finance and HR employees.

TIS recently completed a compliance-based e-learning project for flight attendants working for the Australia-based airline Qantas. The program – based around an interactive game where learners collect ‘frequent learner points’ which can be redeemed for prizes – is not only proving highly popular with the learners but is also helping Qantas to meet its compliance obligations under both national and international law.
