Winnipeg, MB. Canadian Olympic silver medalist Toller Cranston has long been a loyal fan of the City of Winnipeg. Having earned his first National Figure Skating title there in 1971, been presented with the City of Winnipeg's Honourary Citizenship scroll in 1976 and welcomed with open arms numerous times for appearances, book signings and autograph sessions, it was without hesitation that Toller agreed to a three-day art exhibition in the place he refers to as Canada's most progressive and supportive city when it comes to the arts.

Prior to appearing on the popular CBC reality show 'Battle of the Blades' as a guest panelist on Nov. 7 and 8, Toller will be traveling from his home and art studio in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, direct to Winnipeg on Monday, Oct. 25. The Canadian hero will make numerous appearances throughout the city on Oct. 26 and 27, before hosting hundreds of his most loyal fans and followers – both of his artwork and his skating career – at a VIP event on Thursday, Oct. 28 from 5-10 p.m. at The Manitoba Museum.

The art exhibition, entitled 'Up Close and Personal with Toller Cranston' will continue on Friday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 30 at the museum, is free of charge to public, and features some of Toller's most well-known art pieces, including a stunning collection of never-before-seen original sculptures by the famously flamboyant Canadian.

From earning an Olympic medal in the 1976 Winter Games, becoming a six-time Canadian champion and being honoured with the title of Canada's Athlete of the Year, to his appointment into the Order of Canada and distinction as an internationally-revered painter, illustrator, author, designer, choreographer, commentator and star of numerous award-winning television specials and films, it is Toller Cranston's lifetime of achievements that make him as extraordinary an artist as he is a Canadian.

"For decades I have exhibited paintings throughout Canada, yet never in Winnipeg," said Toller. "I look forward to my first exhibition there, as Winnipeg – more than any other Canadian city – understands and supports the arts in all its forms."

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH TOLLER CRANSTON, presented by Artevo.com, will provide a rare and revealing glimpse into the magical world of Toller, and promises to be a truly unforgettable exhibition for all who attend.
