Objectware Inc Launches Completely Integrated Web-based Point of Sale Systems

October 07, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Objectware Inc., an Atlanta-based web, wireless and ecommerce development company, announced today the launch of two ecommerce applications, based on Objectware’s PowerShop, that are fully integrated with Microsoft RMS Point of Sale (POS) systems. Designed for the High Museum of Art and Binders Art Supplies and Frames, the two new ecommerce systems were developed to provide complete integration between offline Point of Sale and online Shopping Cart systems. The High Museum is the leading art museum in the Southeastern United States, and Binders Art Supplies & Frames is a top seller of artist materials and creative gifts in the Charlotte and Atlanta markets.

This newly developed technology offers the same compelling front-end shopping experience and dynamic back-end administrative tools that Objectware has become known for, with a new twist: all online ecommerce activity is automatically shared and communicated with the physical store’s POS system. All transactions are shared perpetually, real-time, between all channels (multiple registers, multiple stores, and online shopping cart). Inventory, transactions and customer’s data is shared real-time across all systems.

The High Museum and Binders Art both enjoy seamless integration of data between all in-store registers, their ecommerce websites, and their back-end POS system. Web transactions automatically follow the same processes as in-store Point of Sale operations. Data such as sales transactions, product information and pictures, inventory availability, pricing, and promotions are shared between all systems. This delivers efficient product and catalog management, inventory planning and purchasing, order processing and fulfillment, and payment processing. In addition, Objectware’s robust executive dashboard enables managers and key decision makers to monitor and control (real-time) overall enterprise performance such as aggregate reporting on sales, transaction price exceptions, low inventory alerts, and more.

“Over the years, we discovered that one of the biggest challenges facing retailers who operate one or more brick-and-mortar stores along with an online ecommerce website is the lack of data sharing between the various sales channels,” said Scott Mahoney, Objectware’s VP of Research and Development. “This can be a cumbersome process for store administrators with a great deal of disconnect regarding the communication of data. The new system we have developed, which integrates with Microsoft RMS, allows for a seamless and intuitive transfer of information that provides multiple avenues for customers to shop with one centralized back-office for administration.”
