DirectRooms.com reveals that The River Kwai Bridge Week is due to take place in Kanchanaburi from the 24th of November to the 5th of December 2010.

This event takes place every year and the famous bridge which was built by prisoners of war during the Second World War is the centre of celebrations. The event truly has something for everybody, with historical exhibits, cultural performances, light and sound shows and opportunities to ride on a genuine World War II train and take part in a carnival.

The event is expected to draw visitors from all over the world, not just locally and many of the events are free to attend.

Further details of the events can be obtained from the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Lek Boonlert, the Head of Marketing at DirectRooms.com, advised: "When planning to book your accommodation it is wise to book well in advance of the event. This ensures you avoid disappointment as accommodation is likely to become full very quickly. It also means you get your first choice accommodation in the location that suits you."

"There are plenty of Kanchanaburi hotels that are located close to the venue but also a wide choice for those who wish to stay a little further away. The accommodation varies so that there is something to suit all tastes and budgets, and making use of the regions public transport system means that there is also the opportunity to sightsee while in the area."
