Legendary Independent Feature Film Producer Jonathan Krane To Host Revolutionary High Definition Television Series Spotlighting “Indie” Films

Palm Beach, FL —- One of Hollywood’s most recognized, outspoken and respected producers, Jonathan Krane, former head of the first true independent film studio, MCEG, and producer of over 43 films including Face Off, Primary Colors, The Trail of the Pink Panther, Blind Date and Look Who’s Talking, announced his entry into television today.

Stepping into a hosting role on the new program, “The Screening Room,” which is being co-produced with WHDT in Palm Beach, Florida, the United States’ first all high-definition television station, Krane looks forward to shedding some light on the “indie” film scene in Southern Florida and beyond. The weekly series, tentatively set to premiere in mid September of this year, will draw on Krane’s more than 20 years of experience in independent filmmaking and will feature conversations with some of the industry’s best and brightest to break down a series of short films or feature over a two-hour period and give the viewer a behind-the-scenes look at what really goes into “indie” film production.

“The Screening Room” follows a “watch and discuss” format with either three 20 minute films or a full length feature and then discussion with the filmmakers.

“This is an amazing opportunity for all independent film producers and directors who are lost after their films are seen in festivals,” said Krane. “Many times short films that make the biggest splashes at major festivals are relegated to the clip reels of the people who made them, but with this program they have a chance to reach a broader audience.”

Krane hosting “The Screening Room” marks his latest step in attempting to revolutionize the independent film industry. Most recently, Krane also announced that he will be teaching at “The Krane Academy of Motion Pictures,” which he founded in Palm Beach, Florida and will be beginning its courses in January of 2006. The first of its kind, “The Krane Academy of Motion Pictures” was created to educate up and coming filmmakers on the business and art of filmmaking as well as the actual methods involved in the filmmaking process, all from an insider’s point of view. The curriculum will be based on the new textbook that Krane wrote, “A Revolutionary Approach to the Art and Science of Moviemaking: A Treatise on Fixing the Accidental Industry,” which will be the first actual textbook on the industry. Taught by entertainment industry professionals, students will not only learn - but live - what it takes to be a successful producer. The unique hands-on curriculum allows students to understand the full role of the producer, from the inception to fruition of a film project including everything from finding or creating the idea, development, packaging, financing, physical production and distribution. Each student of the Academy will graduate with a full producer credit on a viable feature film that will be produced by the Academy and then marketed to a major studio or independent distribution company. Additionally, alumni will be entitled to be managed by Krane who has managed over 150 actors, writers and directors over his 25-year career in Hollywood.
