Psychology of Hip Hop Author Attending Clark Atlanta University Homecoming Celebration

Clark Atlanta University’s Homecoming celebration for 2005 is filled with more excitement than ever before. Being held October 9th through 15th, Hip Hop recording star Bobby Valentino, America’s Next Top Model Winner Eva “The Diva” Pigford, Emmanuel Lewis and authors like Daniel Black (They Tell Me Of A Home), and Terence McPhaul (The Celebrity Psyche and The Psychology of Hip Hop), are just a few of the high profile CAU products eligible to make an appearance. Black and McPhaul are also professors at CAU.

McPhaul will be signing his latest book, The Psychology of Hip Hop, on October 13th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Alumni House.

Formed by the 1988 consolidation of Clark College (founded 1869) and Atlanta University (founded 1865) CAU is a Historically Black University recognized for its tradition of innovation and excellence. A few of its notable graduates include James Weldon Johnson, Carl Ware, Judge Horace T. Ward, Robert Abernathy, Marva Collins, Pearl Cleage and Kenny Leon. Scholars have always found the institution a suitable haven. W.E.B. DuBois, L. Ernest Wilkins, Henry C. McBay, Horace Mann Bond, and Dennis Kimbro only begin to tap the intellectual well ministered by CAU. McPhaul will be signing his latest book, The Psychology of Hip Hop, on October 13th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Alumni House.

“It is so wonderful to be a part of the rich tapestry of Clark Atlanta University,” said Terence McPhaul, a 2000 Alumnus of the Graduate School of Education, and founder of the worldwide Mental Health Counseling firm McPhaul Consultants and Personal Advisors. McPhaul adds, “Clark Atlanta University is an institution which continues to raise the bar on excellence through the team effort of administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni and supporters.”

McPhaul is regularly sought by program directors of TV talk shows and national media as an expert in the field of Mental Health, to deliver perspective or respond to programming regarding social and behavioral issues. McPhaul has appeared on The Tavis Smiley Show, Court TV, and The O’Reilly Factor for FOX News.
