Record-breaking China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components Opened Today in Shanghai With Over 1,000 Booths – Up 25 Percent

Global Sources’ (NASDAQ: GSOL) fall China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components opened today with more than 1,000 booths – up 25 percent from the spring 2005 show. A record number of buyers from 160 countries have pre-registered to attend. The Fair runs through Oct. 12, 2005 at Shanghai Mart and INTEX in Shanghai, China.

Opening ceremony participants included Chen Jifang, vice chairman, Shanghai Association for Science & Technology and Wang Qingjiang, director of the Trade Development Department, Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Foreign Economic Relations & Trade Commission.

Buyer participants included Mueller Electric, Monster Cable and Brookstone. Leading China suppliers Apollo Worldwide, Desay A&V Science And Technology, Fujian Forecam Optics, PSI Electronics and Shenzhen Giec Electronics also attended the ceremony.

China’s consumer electronics industry to top US$67 Billion – hottest products on exhibit
China’s manufacturers of consumer electronics expect production to top US$67 billion in 2005 – up 22 percent from 2004. Exhibitors at the fall Electronics & Components show will showcase some of the highest demand finished electronics products including GSM phones, Flash MP3 players, home & portable DVD players, CCTV wireless cameras and USB flash drives.

The ever-increasing sophistication of China’s electronic components sector will result in huge export growth for many products in 2005: transistors – up 52 percent; printed circuit boards – up 30 percent; and batteries – up 20 percent. These and other components such as adaptors and light emitting diodes (LEDs) will also be showcased at the Fair.

Exporters from nine countries will showcase their products in five major exhibits: consumer electronics, computers & networking products, electronic components, security & safety products, and telecom products.

Among the hundreds of exhibitors are some of mainland China’s leading suppliers, including Coby Electronics, Guangdong Surpass Electronics, SCUD Electronics and Xing Da Printed Circuit Board.
Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea supplier exhibitors will also have a strong presence at the Fair giving international buyers even more choice of products from across Asia.
Samsung, Mueller Electric and Staples to meet suppliers at Vendor Summits
