LateRooms.com - Bridge players to do battle in Gold Coast Congress

The Queensland Bridge Association's (QBA's) Gold Coast Congress is set to get underway at the end of next month and may lead to a rise in bookings at the last minute accommodation in the area.

Now in its 50th year, the meeting will see lovers of the card game descend on the Gold Coast to take part in competitions between February 26th and March 5th 2011.

Organised by the QBA in partnership with the Australian Bridge Federation, the occasion will see entrants - including those staying in Surfers Paradise hotels - battle it out for a share of the various cash prizes on offer.

The biggest money is up for grabs in the pairs and team open championships, with the winners of the former set to pocket AU$1,500. The most successful squad of bridge players will go home with a total of AU$3,600, while the runners-up and third-place finishers will get AU$2,000 and AU$1,000 respectively.

Vouchers worth AU$200 are also available for the best women's pair.

In order to be in with a chance of bagging some of this cash, bridge players must register online and check the list of entries to find out if their application has been successful.

Anyone travelling to the congress should also book their Gold Coast hotels in plenty of time.
