Hockey Hangout asks the question, what’s growing in your gear?

FARMINGTON, N.Y. – GLOBAL POINT USA®, designer and manufacturer of the innovative Hockey Hangout™ wants to tell the world about what is growing in your hockey gear. For years coaches, parents and manufactures have suggested that players dry out their hockey gear after each use. Smelly hockey gear was the motivation; now rising concerns of heath issues brought on by new resistant bacteria have spawned strong warning to players. The healthcare industry has voiced concern that new antibiotic resistant infections (MRSA) have become more common in the general population. Coaches and school officials have been placed on alert for skin infections among their student athlete population. “Many people think that drying your equipment will reduce odor, this is true,” said Paul Jordan, marketing director, GLOBAL POINT. “But the big story is what could grow in your gear causing everything from minor skin irritations to infections that have hospitalized players. The issue that many leagues and schools will be faced with is how to we prevent major illness due to equipment. That is why we developed the Hockey Hangout.” The news has widely reported infected athletes, from several high school football teams in Pennsylvania to members of 2003 RAMS and a famous case in hockey of Toronto Maple leafs star Mikael Renberg who almost lost his hand.
The Hockey Hangout is a unique equipment drying and organizational system designed to help organize, air out and dry sporting equipment. Designed to carry everything today’s hockey player needs, portable to be used anywhere and folds down to save space.

Eleven separate mesh pockets, labeled for each piece of equipment, promote airflow to aid in the drying process and allow players to take a quick inventory of their gear.
Dry equipment is not only more comfortable, but it reduces the occurrence of odor and virtually eliminates the chance of bacteria and fungus growth in the equipment. Dry equipment will help prolong the lifespan of the padding, reducing the likelihood of rashes and potential skin irritation.
