DirectRooms.com announces that Hoi An will be hosting Vietnam's first ever choir competition featuring international participants as part of a new festival being held in March.

The 1st Vietnam International Choir Festival and Competition – Hoi An 2011 will be a chance for choir groups from countries world wide to compete in the historic city of Hoi An. The event is being organised by INTERKULTUR the international choral organisation that plans many singing events around the world and this will be the first time a competition of this kind has been held within the country.

Choirs from a number of different countries are expected to compete featuring both group and solo performances as well as performances in a series of specially prepared concerts. Singers can choose to either compete or just enter for the enjoyment as the event is designed to be an expression of musical talent without people having to feel the need to challenge for the title.

The festival is being held from 16th to 20th March 2011 and also falls over the date of the famous Full Moon Festival in the city. Visitors staying in Hoi An hotels can join in with the celebrations in the evening where all the lights around the city are switched off to capture the full effects of the gleaming moon. Parties are held at many bars and restaurants and people can see traditional music and dance shows all carried out by candlelight.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The competition will attract many new international visitors and combined with the Full Moon Festival hotels rooms will be in short supply. Visitors heading to Hoi An should make sure they've planned accommodation ahead of travelling to the city."
