DirectRooms.com reports that a conference taking place in Saudi Arabia's Makkah will be presenting the multimillion dollar development projects set for the city.

The Makkah Real Estate Development and Investment Conference will consist of the major developers working within the area who will be highlighting the new opportunities for projects taking place in the forthcoming months.

As part of the meeting members from the public and private sectors will be reviewing strategies and the challenges in modernising Makkah. Opportunities for investment will also be reviewed and attendees can talk directly with representatives from construction companies. The event will be a chance for people to assess the risk in investing in Islam's holiest city while also evaluating the potential return from each project.

A project that has recently been granted permission to be started is the construction of an $8.8 billion development that will feature 39 towers for residential and hotel use. The area is marked for continued growth and many investors are expected to head to the King Abdulaziz Historic Hall Umm Al Qura University from a hotel in Makkah when the event runs from 1st to 31st March 2011.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The conference will attract a surge of visitors looking to hear the latest news on initiatives taking place within the city. The increased number of people will result in more hotels close to the university getting booked out so it's advisable for attendees to confirm places well before the start date."
