LateRooms.com reports cycling enthusiasts may want to head to Seville in March to attend Velocity, which will explore how bikes can be incorporated into modern life.

The global conference boasts a packed programme of talks, debates and exhibitions, including a keynote speech by Italian cartoonist Francesco Tonucci.

Better known to his readers as Frato, the artist has spent years trying to make major cities in Italy more child-friendly.

There will be a multitude of interesting discussions taking place throughout the event, which runs from March 23rd to 25th 2011.

A spokesperson from the Velocity 2011 team described in a statement how proud Seville is to be hosting the occasion.

They explained that the number of people in the city who cycle every day has risen from 6,000 to 66,000 over the past three years.

"We are confident that we have established the basis for Seville to become a member of the 'club' of cycling-friendly cities, making for happier citizens," the representative added.

The event costs €324 (£272) for one day or €648 for the whole conference, although there are concessions for students.

It will run from 09:30 to about 18:30 local time every day at the Centro de Convenciones Gran Sevilla.

If people wish to find accommodation in Seville, LateRooms.com can recommend a wide variety of options, including the Hotel Don Paco Seville in the city centre.
