Pittsburgh, PA … Dorrance Publishing Co, Inc, established in 1920, will be donating books to Books for America in celebration of the National Education Association's Read Across America Day on March 2, 2011.

Dorrance, the oldest name is subsidy publishing, just celebrated its ninetieth year in business, embracing its history that is unique in the author services field. Colonel Gordon Dorrance, a member of the distinguished Main Line Philadelphia family that owned Campbell's Soup Company, originally founded the company in 1920. Throughout its history, Dorrance has had only five owners; all have held the company for long periods of time and were committed to its mission of offering excellence in publishing opportunities to authors, most of who have been new and unknown, and who believe in their work and wish to exercise their rights of self-expression.

In order to help preserve this history and encourage literacy throughout the country, Dorrance Publishing has decided to pledge a donation of one book for every order received on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 for Read Across America Day, founded by the National Education Association.

Dorrance will also be donating books for those who help to spread the word. For every person who "likes" Dorrance Publishing Company on Facebook, until March 2, 2011, Dorrance will donate one additonal book. Additionally, one book will be donated for each person who "re-tweets" the Dorrance Books Twitter feed during the same time period.

The National Education Association (NEA) is celebrating its thirteenth annual Read Across America Day this March. This reading motivation and awareness program, which falls on the beloved children's author Dr. Seuss's birthday, expects more than 45 million readers, both young and old, to pick up a book and read. NEA is the nation's largest professional employee organization, representing 3.2 million elementary and secondary teachers, college faculty, school administrators, education support professionals, retired educators and students preparing to become teachers.

Our goal is to show support for literacy and learning among America's children and help to give the joy of reading and build a nation of readers. We hope that you will help us celebrate by placing an order on March 2, which will allow us to donate another book to reach a child that otherwise may not have the chance to enjoy the enlightening experience of reading a story with their loved ones.
