Some of Australia's top athletes will meet on the west coast next month for the Perth Track Classic.

The event is the final leg of the 2011 Australian Athletics Tour (AAT), which kicked off in Brisbane on February 11th. Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney are also staging AAT meetings this year.

Sports stars will compete in a wide range of disciplines, with men's and women's sprinting, mid and long-distance running and hurdling all on the bill.

The programme also features the high jump, pole vault and long jump, plus hammer, shot put, discus and javelin.

As well as the honour of being recognised as the best in their field, the athletes will be battling it out for a share of the prize money. Athletics Australia has provided AU$430,000 in cash for the winners at each 2011 AAT meet-up.

The Perth Track Classic takes place at the Western Australian Athletics Stadium from March 31st to April 1st. Timings for each competition will be announced closer to the event.

Entrance costs AU$10 for adults, with children aged 16 and under allowed in free of charge.

Sports fans thinking of booking cheap hotels in the area can head to LateRooms.com, which recommends a vast selection of Perth hotels.
