They’ll be new bars over, the white cliffs of Dover….

Nutrition expert Yvonne Bishop Weston has had her dreams realised for a no added sugar, dairy free, low carb, higher protein, and essential fat rich chocolate bar. A healthy vegan chocolate bar has been made a reality by UK dairy free speciality food manufacturer Plamil Foods at their vegan chocolate factory in the seaside town of Folkestone, Kent near Dover.

When you wish upon a bar…

Masters of vegan innovation and pioneers of UK soya milk, pea protein, egg free mayonnaise and dairy free vegan chocolate Plamil Foods have blended novel ingredients to grant Yvonne her wish.

Adrian Ling, Plamil MD, tells us “Yvonne asked if we could create a magic version of our famous dairy free chocolate that she could happily recommend, with no sugar, lower carb, higher protein and perhaps some essential fats, but still retain the delicious flavour of chocolate.”

Sweets for my sweet, no sugar for my honey

“She introduced us to Xylitol, a birch tree sugar alternative from Finland that has a very low Glycaemic Index (GI/GL) value, we then added high protein shelled hempseeds to add in omega, 3, 6 and 9, key amino acids and a subtle nutty flavour” says Adrian proudly.

A delighted Yvonne tells us “Plamil really are the Willy Wonkas of healthier chocolate – this vegan chocolate treat really is delicious, and guilt free with many health benefits and none of the drawbacks of sugar or artificial sweeteners – at last we really can have our cake and enjoy eating it!”

“Despite Xylitol’s awful chemical sounding name, the health benefits of this sweetener, discovered in Finland during the war, are abundantly backed up by 50 years of research. It’s not only loved by dentists but evidence shows it may be good for your bones too” says Yvonne.

“The hempseed variety of the chocolate with essential fats and added protein really is the icing on the cake and a great treat!”

The new Plamil magic 60% cocoa, no added sugar chocolate will launched and available for World Vegan Day November 1st from all good health shops at RRP of £1.59 or online from Plamil Foods.
