DirectRooms.com reports that horseracing fans from across Australia will be travelling to Adelaide for the world's picnic race event consisting of two days of top class horse racing.

The race days are being held on Easter Saturday and Easter Monday for the Oakland Easter Racing Carnival which falls between 23rd and 25th April 2011. Visitors can see talented jockeys and the finest thoroughbreds galloping along the course in a number of races that will combine jumping and flat racing events. Day one sees some 45,000 spectators attending, while day two is even larger with up to 70,000 people.

The popularity of the fixture makes it one of the largest Australian race days and is unique in size to any other similar event internationally. In addition to the racing, crowds of people turn out to picnic in the grounds, ride on the carnival attractions and camp overnight in the paddocks.

Attendees can also use nearby cheap Adelaide hotels and can look forward to at least two jumping events on day one and the same amount on Monday. Day two also features a hurdle race and the highlight flat race the Onkaparinga Cup. The event which almost certainly draws the loudest cheers and roars from the crowds is the Great Eastern Steeplechase where jockeys have to navigate the famous fallen log consisting of a log positioned at a height of one metre.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "This is a key date in the racing calendar and the attendances are always huge. Hotels locally are due to be completely occupied so anyone searching for the best rooms online will need to act quickly."
