Cougar confidence is key to attracting younger men

New insights into the older women younger men trend have been revealed in a survey on the cougar dating site Cougared.com.

The Cub Report survey reveals what younger men who date older women really think about many aspects of this relatively new dating scene.

The report, found online at http://www.cougared.com/report answers questions like: What most attracts men to cougars? What sparked off their interest in cougar dating? Do their family and friends know that they date cougars?

Highlights from the Cub Report include:

* Maturity is the biggest turn-on: ignore the image of the cougar in a revealing top with fake boobs and orange tans; it is real inner confidence that attracts younger men

* Politician Sarah Palin is the ultimate fantasy cougar woman: the self-labelled 'hockey mom' was voted more desirable than cougar queens such as Demi Moore, Courteney Cox, Madonna and Kim Catrall

* The ideal age for a cougar is early to mid 40s: the casting team of Cougar Town got it right with Courteney Cox, who was 46 when she first took the role of cougar Jules Cobb

* Lots of cougar chasers have hooked up with the mom of a friend: it seems that Stifler's Mom character from American Pie has its basis in real life

* Most men believe the media has influenced cougar dating: Thanks to media coverage and celebrity cougars, it is now less awkward dating an older woman in public

Being 'cougared' at work by an older woman is a common occurrence: Almost one in five men said they had an experience with an older boss or co-worker

The survey looked at dating scenarios such as who is expected to pick up the check for dinner; whether younger men tell their friends and family about their cougar passion; and where to best places are to meet older women.

Website founder and survey creator Oliver Jameson said: "We have gained an unprecedented insight into the modern younger man's opinions and attitudes about cougars in 2011.

"Modern cubs are not at all obsessed with money - we learnt that they are way more interested in meeting a confident, sexy older woman than finding a sugar mama.

"Overall we found that the term 'cougar' is not a negative concept, but actually is a very positive choice for empowered women of a certain age."
