DirectRooms.com reports that the Chinese Ironman competition will be taking place in Tianjin this year that will push competitors through three punishing races.

Ironman China and Ironman 70.3 are both triathlon events where entrants have to try to complete a triathlon of ex+66 (0) 76 2tra long distances. A certified Ironman race begins with a 2.4 mile swim, then a bike ride of 112 miles, followed by a full length marathon of 26.2 miles. Each of the races are run one after the other, without a break and competitors are given no longer than 17 hours to finish the race.

Ironman 70.3 is a half Ironman with the 70.3 referring to the total distance the event covers in miles. Both events will be held in the city's reservoir for the swim. The bike section then goes around the circumference of the reservoir and the run will wind through Jixian before finishing in the main square in the city centre.

The Ironman championships in Tianjin will take place on 29th May 2011 and has been changed from 22nd May to make sure there are enough hotels Tianjin to accommodate all the people that have entered. Organisers were previously concerned that the area would be oversubscribed due to other events taking place at the same time.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Although the dates for the race have changed places at hotels are still likely to be tight so entrants should plan their hotel stay early and check availability online."
