DirectRooms.com reveals that sailing's elite crews will be making their way to Portimão in Portugal's Algarve for five days of racing which will also help decide which teams are selected for the America's Cup.

Portimão Portugal Match Cup is a race event that sees multinational teams competing against each other in match style racing and the stage in Portugal forms one of the nine that make up the World Match Racing Tour. The tour involves boats which race in pairs in supplied vessels that are exactly the same. This makes for races that are extremely close and the battle on the water involves expert control of the wind and collisions are quite commonplace.

In Portimão teams will be vying for some of the $1.5million in prize money as points are accumulated at each stage. Spectators can look forward to some thrilling days of racing as the sailing is always held near the shore to allow people to see the events clearly and to be able to follow the leader.

The event is extremely popular and also receives wide television coverage as it's broadcast to millions in more than 183 countries worldwide. This will have an affect on people finding a hotel Albufeira-Algarve between the race days of 22nd to 26th June 2011.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Finding accommodation won't be easy as people fill the region to come and see the race. Anyone planning on attending should make hotel arrangements as soon as possible."
