"Legends of the Promised Land," a new book by Xuan-Lan Nguyen, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

"Legends of the Promised Land" is a passionate memoir focused on the forced immigration of a Vietnamese family to the United States following the Vietnam War and rise of communism in their homeland. In her own words, traditional aphorism, and the voices of her children and husband, the matriarch of the family describes their admirable capture of the American Dream, beginning with her-the first-arrival in the US.

About the Author:
Xuân-Lan Nguyễn (born in Dalat, Vietnam) is the author of "Kitty Cat" (1996) and "The Sea and the Mulberry Field" (2009). "The Wonders of the Halcyon Land," another title, is expected in the future.

A wife, mother, and grandmother, she began life in the resort town of Dalat, Vietnam before departing to La Sorbonne in Paris, where she received her degree in English literature, followed by a move to California to earn a Ph.D. in English from UCLA. Mrs. Nguyễn lives in Maryland and continues to pursue, through writing, her concern for the human condition.
