(Sidney, BC) Oct. 25, 2005 — There are plenty of news and content websites, but very few dedicated to talking about news and current events. A new web discussion forum has been developed to address this shortage and serve as a site where people can gather and share their views about the news, get a feel for the way people are responding to the official news reports, or just be with friends or people who share similar interests.

Newsback.com is the new web community dedicated to letting people talk about the news with other people.

“Whereas most of the news sites around the Internet serve content and articles, Newsback is one that is dedicated to discussing them,” said Nicholas Mercader, Newsback’s publisher and a self-proclaimed news junkie, adding that “While content is a very important factor on the Internet, and specifically for new, we believe that there is a void in the way news is served because people want to talk about the news as well as share their opinions about them.”

Newsback serves up the latest pertinent news as well as relevant links with the intention of getting people to talk about them. It also includes community tools like a general forum message board, a blog/journal facility, and other related services.

“Newsback takes a community approach to everything, from its primary focus of the news, and all related services in the site,” said Mercader. “It also includes related functions meant to augment its primary news community operation.”

The site has recently opened its doors to the public in a soft public beta that is meant to showcase the style and usefulness of the site, with tests, tweaks and the current public version having taken advantage of many months of development, and is now open for “charter” members and writers who wish to post news items and articles, or partake in commenting and discussing posts, and be part of the site in its early, formative stage.
